Automate a Prop Firm Account Without Breaking the Rules | The Indicator Store
Most funded accounts aren’t lost to a bad strategy. They’re lost to a late entry, a stop moved because the trade “should come back”, or one more trade after the daily limit. Automation fixes the first two. The limits in Markers Pro 2026 fix the third, as long as they’re set the way your firm counts.
Here is how to set them up, step by step.
1. Read your firm’s rules first
Before touching any setting, check four things in your firm’s current terms:
- The daily loss limit, and whether it counts open positions.
- The maximum drawdown, and whether it’s static or trailing.
- Whether automated trading is allowed, on the evaluation and on the funded account.
- Whether trade copiers are allowed. It’s often a separate rule from automation.
2. Use account limits
Prop firm rules apply to each account, so the setting that matches them is the account limit: a Max Loss and a Max Profit for one specific account. When it’s reached, only the Markers trading on that account stop. Your other accounts keep running.
3. Measure on Account PnL, with unrealized
By default, Markers limits measure Markers PnL: the realized result of Markers trades only. Most firms count differently: the whole account, manual trades included, and open positions too.
For a prop firm account, switch to Account PnL and enable Include unrealized. That way Markers sees the same number your firm sees.
4. Set the limit below the firm’s, with a cushion
When a limit is hit, the position closes with a market order sent after the limit is crossed. The final result can land a few dollars past it. If your firm’s daily loss limit is, for example, $1,000, don’t set yours at $1,000: leave a margin that covers that slippage.
5. Turn on Close positions on limit
With Close positions on limit enabled, Markers doesn’t just stop new entries when the limit is reached: it also closes the open Markers positions on that account. Without it, a position left open could keep moving against you after the limit.
6. Know what happens when a limit is hit
- Blocked. The status shows the reason, and no new Markers entries go out.
- Closed, if you enabled it: that account’s positions, or all of them on a total limit.
- Stays blocked, even if the PnL comes back or you raise the limit, and even after a platform restart.
- Released at the new session (6:00 PM ET), or manually with Clear blocks.
7. Running several accounts? Add a total limit
If you trade an evaluation and a funded account side by side, or several funded accounts, each one gets its own account limit. On top of that, a total limit caps the sum of all of them: when it’s reached, every Markers stops.
What the limits don’t do
The limits are daily. They don’t track a trailing drawdown. If your firm uses one, keep an eye on it yourself, especially on days close to the threshold.
Test it before it counts
Run the full setup on a demo or evaluation account first. Push the limit on purpose and check that the account blocks and closes the way you expect. It takes minutes, and it’s the only way to know the configuration matches your firm’s rules before a funded account depends on it.
